A Rigged Casino
Posted on January 7, 2012 | No CommentsNext, you lack information and exposure. You have no idea what is going on in the market besides what you see on the news - while hedge funds have analysts working around the clock and a bunch of service providers who give minute-by-minute analysis of their portfolio opportunities and weaknesses in all markets with exposures to nearly everything. -
The Forces of the Last Gasp, on Meat Street
Posted on November 18, 2011 | No CommentsThere are no parasites as insidious, vile, venal and cold as the bankers. They are the original satanists. Stop the bankers and you stop the clocks, you stop the wars, you stop the poverty, you stop the inequality, you stop every evil financed by them and they are considerable. It's a simple thing, the same way that the war against the Muslims is about Muslim bankers not charging interest because Usury is the king of pain in the lands of the oppressed. -
The EFSF Pitching Itself As A Hedge Fund
Posted on November 5, 2011 | No CommentsThe EFSF proudly announces that it is going to pay as much as possible to prop up weak banks and countries throughout the Eurozone. The investors sit there with stunned looks on their face. The EFSF fully enjoying how awestruck the potential investors are, explain that there are many countries and some banks that cannot receive the financing that they need because they are having cash flow problems, are over leveraged, and quite simply are in deep trouble unless someone is will to buy their bonds at aggressive prices. As the investors finally regain their composure, they are sure they must have misunderstood. -
Dividends – Good or Bad?
Posted on October 28, 2011 | No CommentsDividends decrease the total value of a company. Dividends are kind of like tearing off a small chunk of the firm and giving it to investors. Here's a good rule of thumb to keep in mind. Mature companies hoarding cash without a dividend is not a particularly good sign; and a growth company paying large dividends is definitely a bad sign in most cases. -
The US stock market has been taken over – by smart people and smarter machines
Posted on October 27, 2011 | No CommentsAnd it's even worse than that, because these programs are now able to anticipate what you will buy next, in order to buy it microseconds before you push the buy button, then sell it to you at a profit. -
Boots on the ground in China: signs of a slowdown are obvious
Posted on October 27, 2011 | No CommentsRecent reports from the National Bureau of Statistics show that home prices have fallen up to 50% in many parts of the country in the period from July to September. But who gives a damn about government reports? The real evidence is on the ground. -
Why I’m still buying gold (and silver) after a 10-year bull run
Posted on September 24, 2011 | No CommentsI firmly believe we're still in that that phase of the gold bull market where the early gains have been made, but the smart money is still buying. And they're buying it from the public, who are selling their old gold jewelry and scrap gold to companies such as the one operating this booth in Auckland. -
Financial Ecology
Posted on September 24, 2011 | No CommentsAs with animal and plant ecology the weak should be allowed to disappear. As a financial student I see new instruments and corporation types being created and others dying out because they were not able to feed in the current market ecology. -
“The Sequel”: How 2011 Is A Repeat of 2008 – Only Bigger, Longer, and Uncut by Bailouts
Posted on August 28, 2011 | No CommentsNow, I used to write for the movies—I can tell you the secret to writing a good sequel: Use the exact same elements, the exact same story structure—hell, even use the exact same lines!—but make sure the sequel isbigger: Bigger sets, bigger explosions, bigger stars, bigger everything—a bigger bang for the buck. -
Why You’ll Still Be Buying Gold at $2,000
Posted on August 18, 2011 | No CommentsIn other words, you won't buy gold at $2,000 an ounce because you think it's going to $6,000; you'll buy gold because you fear the dollar will continue losing its ability to meet basic monetary requirements and you'll need a substitute, something that will retain its value. -
An Introduction to Technical Analysis: Keep It Simple
Posted on August 18, 2011 | No CommentsMany people have a difficult time understanding the point of technical analysis. How can a bunch of math and seemingly arbitrary lines on a chart displaying prices over time help one pick points which represent opportunities to buy low and sell high (or buy high and sell higher)? -
Gold Drivers
Posted on August 15, 2011 | No CommentsAll of the gold in the world that has ever been mined, if refined (0.9999 pure), would fit into a 21 metre high cube and is very rare. Thus, if even a fraction of flows in global capital and currency markets flows into gold, prices could rise very sharply and go parabolic. -
Paper Trading Vs. Real Time
Posted on July 31, 2011 | No CommentsThe advance from paper trading to real time is like night and day. The psychology is completely different once you have your own money on the line. The same goes for you Las Vegas shooters. With a paper and pen in hand watching the prices slide by is entirely different when those numbers represent you’re your money.
